In case any of you don’t feel too old in this age of computers and technology, where you’re average teen will ask, “Who’s Michael Jackson?”, here’s a story to make you weep and reach for the walker.
A 13-year-old traded his iPod for an “ancient artifact” not seen for many years and so obsolete that it’s accessories are sold for under a dollar at most places. This artifact… is a walkman.
Yes, that’s right. A walkman. And teenager Scott Campbell conducted a social experiment by listening to the walkman while he went in and out of shops and walked the streets and grounds of his school and neighborhood, comparing it to the likes of today’s mp3 players. How quaint.
Personally, I’m relieved I live in the digital age, with bigger choice, more functions and smaller devices. I’m relieved that the majority of technological advancement happened before I was born, as I can’t imagine having to use such basic equipment every day.
Screw you, Campbell, and the high horse you rode in on! *shakes pale fist*
