With a heavy heart and tears in my eyes, I regret to inform our long time readers that Re:Generator’s favorite PMC is leaving the private security business. In the wake of public scrutiny and investigations following an incident in September of ‘07 which lead to civilian death, Blackwater is leaving the private security business in Iraq.
In the past, Blackwater I have written many hate-fueled articles speaking out against Blackwater as a threat to our Republican form of government, for their lucrative government contracts, because of their own personal intelligence agency, and their reckless and sanguineous conduct in Iraq from which not even animals are safe. Now Blackwater is going to withdraw from Iraq and the “private security business” after collecting millions of tax payer dollars in government contracts to run around and wreak havoc when not escorting VIPs around Iraq like a heavily armed taxi service. However, there is no word that Blackwater is ending their relationship to the Federal government or.
However, this doesn’t mean that Blackwater is just going to go away. They are merely expanding their business operations outside of the realm of private security, what ever that means. Also, Blackwater mercenaries are most likely not going to be tried and punished for their crimes, thanks to immunity from prosecution which they were granted prior to congress declaring they were subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Erik Prince cannot have his soldiers subject to archaic things such as laws, or Geneva Conventions, especially not during a crusade against militant Islam, so it is best for them to withdraw for now back to the United States where they will continue to train various Local, State and Federal law enforcement agencies the skills that they learned on the mean streets of Baghdad.
But don’t worry, there are still a myriad of PMC groups out there to commit heinous acts against innocent people with impunity in the vast reaches of the empire. So although Blackwater is leaving Iraq their legacy, like the scars on their victims and their families, will remain for much longer. This is not the final chapter written on Blackwater, or PMC mercenaries used by the American Empire (we still have to invade Iran this fall, dammit!) but just an interlude. Look back, while the information is fresh, and familiarize yourself with the crimes committed by Blackwater and other PMC groups before they are swept under the rug or whitewashed when the Bush Administration (god willing) leaves office in January ‘09.
