I like to consider myself an open minded person, with relatively low egocentricities. However, I must admit that this story made me want to puke. Before you read, allow me to put you into a quick scenario…
Pretend for a minute that you live somewhere where homosexuality is “nonexistent.” Not just illegal, mind you, nonexistent. Now pretend for a moment that you have been accused of “raping” someone of the same sex as you (because in a country where homosexuality doesn’t exist, sex is never consensual), eight years ago. But it doesn’t stop there. How about if they accuse you of raping someone eight years ago, and the punishment for such a crime is death? Oh, yeah, and all of the witnesses who testified against you during the original investigation admitted in trial that they were originally lying. But of course, that’s still not the end of it. Oh, no. How about if after accusing you of raping someone eight years ago, and those who testified in court all admitted to telling fabricated stories, and after being told you weren’t going to be hanged, and that you were getting off free, they hang you in the early hours of the morning and conveniently fail to notify your family or lawyer?
Welcome to Iran, baby.
