As the fall season approaches, so do the hints of new trends dribbling in from magazines and fashionistas. May I remind you that all trends are decided at least a whole season before they are finalized? Sometimes an entire year! You know how New York has Fashion Week? It’s at that event where buyers will be told what is “in” for the following seasons. Basically, the only reason gladiator sandals were in for summer was because some designer said so at Fashion Week. And they also said “neo hippy” was the look to be. Needless to say, I was not impressed.
However, fall looks promising. Almost. Somehow neon colors have managed to come back, as if the late 80’s didn’t scare you enough the first time. Like most things in life, there is a good way and a terrible way to wear modern fashion. Neon is the prime example.
DKNY has catered to the neon trend by making brightly colored sweaters that will look great with neutral tones. It reminds the consumer to not over indulge in color, but use it as an accent, which makes the difference between a fashionable adult and a color obsessed teenager. However, if edgy, young and hip is more your thing then sophisticated professional, brands like my personal favorite, French Connection, have got great dresses in bold colors and patterns that will make a statement. Just make sure to not over accessorize or overdo it.
Aside from neon, I have come up with a cute little collage of my favorite fall fashions thanks to Polyvore. Note: I personally do not enjoy the neon fashion, hence the only neon option I provided was leggings. However, I do enjoy the neon purple color that is surfacing, though it’s hardly as bright or pungent as, say, neon yellow.
