I’ve always had eclectic tastes in music. When I was still making mix tapes, it was not unusual to find Cryptopsy following an especially sad and fragile Elliott Smith song, or Screaming Jay Hawkins followed by the Magnetic Fields. Even pre-iPod, I was something of a mad scientist, thriving off the juxtaposition. That this impulse never left me should be no surprise, as this week I present to you navel-gazing alternative rock, Japanese experimental opera pop, doom metal, a southern-infused indie bar hymn and a decent impersonation of Interpol, who is turn is impersonating Joy Division. Enjoy.
