A Chicago man is suing the city and the officers involved in his arrest for allegedly soliciting a prostitute while his wife and daughter were in the car with him. Thinking he was stopping to help a woman in distress, Erasmo Palacios stopped his car to see if he could offer the woman assistance. When she offered him sexual favors for money, Palacios and his wife realized it was not a woman in distress and laughed at their situation. Immediately officers swarmed his car and hauled Palacios off to jail and impounded his car. A week later charges were dropped against Erasmo, but now he seeks compensation and damages from the local authorities. Says Erasmo:
“I’m so lucky I was with my wife — imagine if I had to try to tell her and she wasn’t with me,” he said, before laughing at the image. “She’d never believe me. Never.”
That’s one hell of an understatement, Erasmo.
