Ladies and Gentlemen,
The time has come for us to begin our revolt against the government. For years now, the government has been held largely unaccountable for their actions, and has become fat, decadent and lazy. Corrupt professional politicians and their staffs, and assorted lobbyists have become so far removed from the realities of America and the wants and needs of their constituents that they need to be removed.
Now Ladies and Gentlemen, before you reach for cudgels and molotovs, allow me to further explain my position.
The time has come for us to revolt and to change the government, this fact is indisputable. However, we still possess the means for peaceful and legitimate revolt against the government. We have the ballot box. Any calls for violence, at this point, are wholly illegitimate and need to be denounced vehemently.
So, how do I propose that we revolt against the government? How do I propose to remove the government? how do I propose to do this peaceably and legitimately? Simple, it is time for us to run for office. The best way to revolt against the government is to become the government, and it has come time for us to become the government.
We become the government by running for political office.
For those of you who believed in the rhetoric and campaign promises of the current Obama administration, it is time to face the hard realization that you have been short changed. The Obama administration has betrayed all of you with the exception of the elite bankers and corporate executives who backed a little known junior senator from Illinois for President. Every campaign promise has been broken, and it is time to realize that the Obama administration, and the Democratic party has not simply turned its back upon the American people, but has stabbed them in the back.
Republicans and conservatives, do not think that your party is off the hook either. The republican party, with few notable exceptions, sheepishly followed George W Bush and his horde while they stripped the constitution bare, expanded the government and spent into oblivion. Now to mention the two wars, warrantless spying on the American people, rendition and torture, while building a police state apparatus the likes of which America had never seen all under the guise of defending us from a shadowed enemy somewhere in the mountains of Afghanistan. The Republican party is just as guilty for this mess as anyone else.
Now, before Democrats and liberals start grinning, recall that Democratic party did absolutely nothing in the past to stop this when they were the opposition, and nothing to remedy the situation once they gained power of the house and senate. Obama administration has also done absolutely nothing to remedy and reverse the destruction of our nation and is expanding the wars, expanding the security measures, expanding the police state. In addition, the focus is now on the American people as potential domestic terrorists because they are white bigots who are angry that a black man is president now. Complete hogwash.
The two major parties are moribund, so it is my advice to stay clear of them if you want to run for office. In addition, the primary season for the two major parties is already in full swing, and ousting incumbents requires resources that most American simply do not have, in addition to the support of the party on the local level. Infiltration of the party takes very long, and there are roadblocks placed in the way, power politics and entitlement games, which have always slowed down the pace of real change discouraging new ideas and only letting party faithful reach higher ranks.
Another problem is the lack of a viable and legitimate third party in the Unites States. Some people may claim that the “Tea Party” movement is a budding third party, but I disagree. I believe that the Tea Party has been co-opted by Neo-cons and establishment shills and has lost its Libertarian foundations and its conservative base. However, if you want to gain the support of the Tea Party or run using a similar platform it is a personal preference.
The strategy is to run as an independent. If you run as an independent you do not have to deal with gaining support from a party, and you don’t have to worry about primaries. However, your first main worry is campaigning and getting on the ballot. Look at the State and local laws and requirements for running for office. Some will require a fee to get on the ballot, others will require so many signatures on a petition to get on the ballot. Collect more signatures than you need, a lot more, as your rivals in the party will file against you in court disputing the legitimacy of your signatures.
You will need to formulate your platform. For those of you on the left, the current democrats are vulnerable to attacks from the left because they have sold out their liberal allies and betrayed them. For those of you on the right, use a similar strategy. For a Political Action Committee to organize your campaign and fund raisers. Find ways to package your message and target it according to your circumstances. Campaign frequently and personally, speak often and be ready to defend your position from all sides, learn your oppositions arguments as well as you know your own. Take the message to the people, especially the young. The young people elected Obama, and they can also elect you if they have learned from their mistakes. Focus on November.
