I find it hard to sum up exactly what SXSW is all about. If you work in the music industry, I suppose it’s about working and making connections. If you are fan it’s about the most music you can fit into a single week. If you are a liver, it’s about running at optimum in the face of extreme bombardment. However you approach the festival, one thing is the same for everyone. It’s a damn good time. Re:Generator photographer Drunklando and I had the privilege to perform during this years festival and what follows is a handful of select photographs. It would be impossible to even touch on all the experiences we had, so this will have to do.
Leaving the lonesome west behind in our intrepid Dodge Ram van, piled high with booze, boots and butts.
Credentials?! We’re too drunk to even spell credentials!
Kiss Kiss (New York) peforms one of the loudest sets ever heard by man at Amsterdam Cafe.
A random assortment of the indigenous peoples found wandering the street during SXSW. A tribe known as “Freaks on the Street”.
Darkest Hour (Washington D.C./Virginia) rages on stage at Emo’s during Full Metal Texas 2010.
Andrew Forsman of the late Fall of Troy (Washington) accepts a much appreciated tonic.
The Dillinger Escape Plan (New Jersey) melt faces and provide some of the best guitar hero moments of the festival at Emo Jr’s.
Your Demise (United Kingdom) grab some face time with James Munoz of The Bled (Arizona) and have their second life changing experience.
Hungover and well dressed members of The Bronx transform into Mariachi El Bronx to serenade an appreciative crowd with a soothing latin sound.
Your intrepid reporters, who sacrifice so much of their time and well being to bring you as much snark as you can handle. At least that is what we tell ourselves.
