Today is the day. KFC’s long awaited Double Down sandwich has finally been made available to all KFC restaurants. The internet has been abuzz about it since it’s first premiere at select KFC’s and finally the collective tastebuds of the public can finally be sated and endure something so coronary-inducing wrong, it must be right.
For the uninitiated, the Double Down is simply this: 1 chicken fillet+jack cheeses+bacon+1 chicken fillet. This is a vegan’s night terror, a vegetarian’s slightly disturbing dream, and a carnivore’s paradise. Get this, you have two choices of “bun” types: original recipe or grilled. You know, so you can eat healthy while not eating healthy.
The KFC website has even been so kind as to provide nutritional information, as if anyone considering eating one of these monstrosities actually cares about their calorie intake. But let’s take a look, shall we?
Original Recipe: 540 calories, 32 grams of fat, 1380 milligrams of sodium.
Grilled Double Down: 460 calories, 23 grams of fat, and only 1430 milligrams of sodium.
Grilled may be more “healthy”, but it makes up for that side effect with the extra sodium at least. So you can be rest assured that you’re dining choice won’t make you look like a hippy to your friends.
