The Obama machine certainly is finding their ballast when it comes to push-back against negative attacks and troubling stories. A day into the low-boil controversy over Obama’s retiring pastor Reverend Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr., they’ve 1) introduced the world to the seemingly uncontroversial reverend replacing Wright on their official YouTube outpost, 2) issued a series of statements distancing themselves from from Wright’s divisive rhetoric, culminating in the candidate himself explaining his ideological differences with his spiritual leader in “On my faith and my church” on The Huffington Post, and 3) engineering Wright’s resignation from an advisory post on the campaign.
Interestingly, Obama also chose today to concede Tony Rezko did more fundraising in his previous political contests than he initially admitted. One might be tempted to surmise he’s taking steps to deny his opponent(s) any further ammunition in anticipation of transitioning to a general election run.
