The above anatomical diagram is wrong, according to Australian urologist Dr. Helen O’Connell:
The clitoris rivals the penis in size.
Wait, what? Anyone familiar with the clitoris knows that there’s more to it then what you see (or don’t) on the surface, but bigger than the penis?
“The vaginal wall is, in fact, the clitoris. … If you lift the skin off the vagina on the side walls, you get the bulbs of the clitoris – triangular, crescental masses of erectile tissue.”
Stop for a moment and consider the following: It’s the 21st century. Biologists have a thorough understanding of how male genitalia functions, but as for women… the true size of the clitoris is just now being understood. Is the slow clitoral learning curve a result of innumerable years of gender inequality slanted in men’s favor, thereby placing higher value on knowing the mechanics of a phallus? Or are a woman’s insides just so complicated that many years ago understanding them was deemed “not worth the effort”?
Whatever the cause, women can now join men in their neurosis about whether they’re big enough.
