Judge Sonia Sotomayor, president Obama’s fresh pick to replace outgoing Supreme Court Justice David Souter, wouldn’t be in the position she is now if it weren’t for Raymond Burr:
Sotomayor told the New York Times that she was inspired to become a judge by an episode of “Perry Mason.”
If Sotomayor makes it through the confirmation process intact, she would be the first Hispanic Justice (she’s of Puerto Rican descent), bring sixteen years of judicial experience to the bench and restore the female quotient on the court to a total of two. Her evidently liberal leanings would cause a rain of toads on the steps of the Supreme Court building whenever court went into session, which would actually be a step up from the locust swarm that pops by now.
