The day Iceland’s same-sex marriage law took effect, the country’s gay Prime Minister Johanna Sigurdardottir married her long-term partner, making her the first gay-married leader of a nation. We applaud Iceland for its progressivism, and we’re only sorry we didn’t get to know it better before an angry homophobic god wiped it clean off the map. It’s the same thing that happened to other parts of the world after they removed arbitrary legal roadblocks against citizens with different sexual orientations. O Canada, if only you’d stood strong against reasoned arguments you might still be around to be America’s hat.
