Joshua Green makes the case for the notion that Obama’s economic advisory team will soon be free of the much maligned Larry Summers, who in sundry deliberate leaks to the press corps has been branded as a poor fit for his job, an egomaniac, a buerocratic infighter and a Clintonista (if you want to split hairs, the term “Clintonista” covers all of the above).
Then there’s this juicy bit of D.C. insider gossip:
Obama’s nickname for Summers is “Dr. Kevorkian,” which does not imply paternal fondness.
The administration’s economic policy will be in a better place once Dr. Kevorkian isn’t around to put Paul Volcker’s good ideas to death.
