Were you aware there are more tea party protests planned for July 4th? Neither was I, until I read an article about the media’s indifference to them in The Washington Independent. That’s just as well; the first round left a bad taste in a lot of people’s mouths. I mean… testicles. While on its face, the 4th’s teabaggery looks like it will be nowhere near as consequential in the public consciousness, it does increase our purview of the mindset of the hardliner conservative grassroots.
“I think of the Tea Party Movement as a play in three acts,” said Michael Patrick Leahy, a Nashville activist who has clashed with other Tea Party organizers, but who is speaking at the Dallas event. “Act one was to protest the socialist statism that we don’t believe in. The second act is happening on Saturday when we celebrate the Constitution that we do believe in. The third act will be taking actions to restore limited government.”
What sort of “actions” do agitated gun-lovers who think the democratic election that put Barack Obama into power was a socialist coup take?
