If this were any political era but our own, the views expressed by chairman of the Arkansas Republican Party Dennis Milligan would be considered the nadir of stupidity. Pundits would be decrying him on every news channel, he would have already resigned or been stripped of leadership, and a mob of self-styled patriots would have driven him back to the swamp from whence he spawned. This is George Bush’s America, however, and Milligan, as you’re about to see, is a loyal Bushie, so much so that he not-so-secretly hopes terrorists will strike America again so we can all come to our senses and remember how truly, madly, deeply we all love our Codpiece-in-Chief.
Not too shabby for his first interview as chairman:
“At the end of the day, I believe fully the president is doing the right thing, and I think all we need is some attacks on American soil like we had on [Sept. 11, 2001],” Milligan said to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, “and the naysayers will come around very quickly to appreciate not only the commitment for President Bush, but the sacrifice that has been made by men and women to protect this country.”
I’d suggest he was verbally deep-throating W., but I don’t want to slander those venerable individuals without a gag reflex.
The implications of Milligan’s comments are nothing short of mind-blowing. This small-minded cretin would rather radical Islamic terrorists maliciously murder thousands of his fellow citizens than see the authoritarian leader he worships stay below a thirty-percent approval rating. Milligan didn’t just drink the Kool-Aid, he gulped down the whole punch bowl.
