Is it just me or does Martha Stewart need to be taken down a notch?
A recent episode of her daily show featured Italian fashion designer, Roberto Cavalli, whose designs include $1,300 jeans, and $3,000 “Ready to Wear” dresses. While showcasing some of his disasters dresses and claiming “devine inspiration”, Martha commented “Everybody who’s not thin enough to wear the dresses: Go on a little diet.” Thanks Martha, it’s good to know that you only consider sizes 2, 4, and 6 to be fashionable.
We could discuss that the average women wears a 14, or the dangers of ill-informed dieting , or how being healthy is better goal than an arbitrary size, or that the economy sucks and it’s in bad taste to spend $3,000 on a dress, or that perhaps her target demographic is watching her show not for fashion advice, but for how to make a centerpiece out of a pinecones…
One Jezelel commenter takes this a more comic direction than the obvious flame war Martha deserves. Sensitivitycop notes; “More Martha gems: ** “if you’re short on funds, ask your broker for inside information – it’s a good thing” **
That being said, I’ll just go back to imagining her prison pancho bedazzled, glittered, and frayed on the bottom, it’d be prettier than any Cavalli dress featured.
