About Regenerator Mag

Updated on

Regenerator Mag is an independent buying guide for portable generators. We help you work out what size you need, which fuel suits you and which models are worth a look.

The site is written for homeowners, RV owners, campers and anyone who has sat through a long power outage and wants a better plan for the next one.

What you'll find here

We cover gas, propane and dual fuel generators, from small inverter models to 13,000 watt units that back up a house. We also explain watt sizing, cords, placement and carbon monoxide safety.

Our brand pages put Westinghouse, Champion, DuroMax, DuroStar and WEN side by side, so you can see the trade-offs in plain words.

How we work

For each generator we cover, we read the specs and maker information, check the recall record and look at what buyers often say after using one.

Then we write short guides, direct comparisons and clear picks. Our How we research page explains each step.

What we are not

We're not a generator maker or a store, and no brand pays us to rank its products.

We're not an electrician or a safety authority either. We don't give wiring instructions, and we point you to the maker's manual and a licensed electrician for anything that touches your home's wiring.

We don't claim to have run every generator ourselves. When we pick one, we explain why, based on its specs, its features and buyer feedback.

How the site earns money

Some links go to stores like Amazon. If you buy through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

That never changes which generators we pick. Our affiliate disclosure has the details.
